Did you ever come up with a “scathingly brilliant” idea, but didn’t follow through and some time later you see that same idea being offered in the marketplace? Well, that happened to me, and I’m overjoyed!
The product is called “snap-button jewelry” and it’s exactly what you’d think it is… buttons with snaps on the back, to attach to jewelry and other accessories. I made a bunch of samples of this idea about 10 years ago using sewing snaps. It worked great, but I could see that someone would eventually have to manufacture the components, and I wasn’t that someone. The most fun about developing the idea, though, was putting together little jeweled buttons and adornments to switch out on my basic accessories (I made belts, headbands, pins, and a few jewelry items).
So now that I can buy the basic findings, I’m free to design snap buttons with my favorite sparklies; Czech glass buttons are the first (and most obvious) application, but my huge inventory of jewelry findings, focal jewels, and other unique components will come in handy as I explore the multitude of options this new product has offered.
As I work with this idea, I’ll be offering my designer samples for sale – I hope you find them as fun as I do, and will share your feedback on both the finished products and the eventual how-to instructions
